He then went on to work for the Syracuse Police Department for 20 years where he served as a Patrol Officer, Detective, Patrol Sergeant and a Detective Sergeant. He was assigned to the Criminal Investigations Bureau for 15 years where he supervised more than 70 detectives investigating major crimes, involving over 200 homicide investigations, sexual assaults, robberies and shootings. He also served as a SWAT Team Supervisor, responsible for training and tactical operations from 1994-2002. Upon his retirement from the Syracuse Police Department in 2008, Hilton became a Federal Drug Intelligence Officer assigned to the Northern NY District DEA Task Force. Then in 2010, Hilton accepted a position with the Onondaga County District Attorney’s Office as a Cold Case Homicide Investigator.
