Sheriff- Scott Scherer began his career with the Herkimer County Sheriff’s Office in 1992, serving as a correction officer, deputy sheriff and civil officer. In 1994 he joined the Herkimer Police Department where he rose to the rank of Captain before retiring from there in 2014. He was appointed Undersheriff in 2016.
