In recognition of retired Livingston County Sheriff John York’s dedication and commitment to the Sheriffs’ Summer Camp, a building has been named in his honor.  Sheriff York served as Sheriff of Livingston County for 24 years and played an extremely active role in the enhancement and success of the Sheriffs’ Summer Camp Program.

Sheriff Ron Spike, Yates County, Chairman of the New York State Sheriffs’ Association Institute Board of Directors unveiled the sign  dedicating the building to Sheriff York. Sheriff York’s family, fellow Sheriffs and the campers themselves attended the festivities. At one point the campers started chanting “John, John, John,…."

The current Livingston County Sheriff Tom Dougherty pledged that the Livingston County Sheriffs’ Office, through volunteer efforts, would take on the responsibility of maintaining the Sheriff John York Building.
