The Suffolk County Sheriff’s Office made $40,000 available from criminal asset forfeiture money to build a new nurse’s cabin at the Sheriffs’ Summer Camp.  Sheriff Vince DeMarco, a strong advocate of the Sheriffs’ Camp Program, gained approval from the United States Department of Justice to fund the construction of the Nurse’s Cabin with money seized from criminal’s illicit gains.

The Sheriffs’ Summer Camp opened on Sunday, June 29th and the new building, located in the center of the camp, was an active place as the first week of campers was processed.

“It’s a long overdue upgrade to our camp and I speak for both the staff and the campers in saying ‘thank you Sheriff DeMarco,’”  said Camp Director Dave Sherman.
